Trevoh Chalobah Set to Step in for Guehi in England Selection

Trevoh Chalobah playing for England

Trevoh Chalobah emulated his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, becoming the 21st duo of brothers to be selected for the national team.

Trevoh Chalobah is set to join up with the Three Lions selection to fill in for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to join the team for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, although it has still not been confirmed.

The England team have already booked their place for next summer's tournament.

Chalobah received his first call-up under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against Senegal.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the selection for qualifiers against Serbia and Andorra, and also did not select him for the following October fixtures.

Tuchel has been an significant influence in Chalobah's progress, having handed him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in all but four games for Chelsea this season, with the team occupying third spot in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi picked up a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League win over the Dutch side last week.

There are expected to be further additions to the selection. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has confirmed that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the squad.
