Indianapolis Colts Face Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action

Hello, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I trust on this excellent early start to week 10 coming directly from Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the nation’s capital.

Pre-match Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?

In a similar vein the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their string of three losses. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Updates

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.

A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Other Week 10 Games

And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Carolina Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) New York Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. I’m planting my flag on Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
