Craig Bellamy states England's squad depth is remarkable that a boxing promoter would not match them with his Wales side.

Bellamy's men face England in a non-competitive match at Wembley on this Thursday before their important World Cup qualifier against Belgium next Monday.

National team coach Thomas Tuchel has omitted the such as Bellingham, Foden and Grealish from his squad for the match against Wales and their qualifying game against Latvia.

"The English have a ridiculous team, similar to France," the coach remarked.

"England have a transfer market value of £1.4bn, ours is £170m. Were you a fight promoter, you wouldn't put us together. That wouldn't be permitted."

He says ensuring Wales can face the talented opponents is a "driving force".

Bellamy continued: "We don't go off market prices, but the reality is they have more than a single lineup. They have two, three, four and the French and other nations are similarly stacked. England have many great players and that's a fact."

"A defender was ruled out injured the other day and there's only two dozen others to go! They have over sixty footballers. I wish Wales to be stacked similarly."

The neighbouring countries most recently met at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, when the English emerged as comfortable victors in a fixture before the previous England team made it to the quarter-finals.

The new manager is Tuchel, a European and world club champion at the London club who has won league championships in France and his native Germany.

Bellamy was formerly an assistant at the Belgian side and Burnley to Kompany, who replaced Tuchel at the German giants.

"Tuchel's an incredible coach - his record speak for themselves," Bellamy added.

"I possess some sort of understanding because the club he left I am familiar with people who have joined. I get a bit of an insight there of how he works and it's very impressive. "

"His tactical detail is elite and I aimed to be facing such a challenge - see how you're going to adapt because he adapts too. I can learn from it. I'd love to reach that level."
