Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who found a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for details.

A high-ranking official said the attack made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
