Alarming Footage Shows Point Police Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault

The Two Senior Officers Instants Prior to the Attacker Was Tasered

One ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a partner that was assaulted by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver following a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Officer attacked," the constable stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video released by the police department showed Brown, wearing in black with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He struck the policeman who tripped and dropped to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft Incapacitated the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Taser

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, bringing the fight to an end.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell received two lacerations to his throat and additional injuries to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Authorities stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stop his colleague's hemorrhaging before emergency responders arrived.

This most recent honor arrives after the three officers were granted departmental Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area Police Federation in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a Regional Bravery Award in summer 2024.

"The responses of the entire team ultimately saved one another and resulted in no civilians experienced any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, as stated by authorities.
